| d. | The 15 year lease expired on 1 September 1987 and the units were retired on 19 November 1987 and returned to the owner/lessor, First Security Bank of Utah; units remained stored at North Little Rock pending disposition by lessor; sold to GE in February 1988; GE rebuilt them into GE's new Super 7-23Bs; first unit (GECX 2000, ex-WP 2263) was completed at GE's Erie plant in March 1989 and served as the prototype unit; next two (GECX 2001, 2002, ex-WP 2251, 2257) were completed in March 1989 by Morrison Knudsen's Boise Locomotive Shop in Boise, Idaho; remaining 10 units were completed as Monongahela Railway (MGA) 2300 class units and were done at GE's new, former Montreal Locomotive Works shop in Montreal, Canada; MGA 2300 was the first completed in the former MLW plant, in September 1989. |
