C&NW 411 (3rd) CGW 114B C&NW 318 (2nd) Dec 1950 13563 6206B

General Notes:

  1. C&NW 410 (4th) and 411 (3rd) were built as Chicago Great Western 113D, 114B; acquired by C&NW through merger in July 1968. Renumbered to 300 series in 1971, renumbered to 400 series in 1985.
  2. C&NW 410 (4th) was frame-checked by Norm Metcalf, showing frame number 6204-B2. The above renumber sequence is from C&NW mechanical department records; Sy Reich's C&NW roster published by Railroad magazine shows the sequence as CGW 113D to C&NW 113D to C&NW 317 (2nd) to C&NW 410 (4th), the difference being that after C&NW's control of CGW in 1968, the unit carried its ex CGW number, but with C&NW reporting mark; only photographic research will show whether or not the unit carried the C&NW 113D number. (information from Norm Metcalf via email, November 5, 2005)

Notes:

  1. C&NW 410 (4th) and 411 (3rd) were acquired by Union Pacific through merger in April 1995. (Read more about the units after the UP-C&NW merger)
