Streetcar Information

Salt Lake City Streetcars -- An index page for the history and operations of Salt Lake City's streetcars, including notes about the GM streetcar conspiracy.

Ogden Streetcars -- An index page for the steam-operated and electric street railways in Ogden, built in 1884 and removed in 1935.

Logan Streetcars -- Basic information about the history and operations of Logan's streetcars, built in 1910 and removed in 1924.

Provo Streetcars -- Basic information about the history and operations of Provo's streetcars, first attempted in 1893, and built in 1913, then removed in 1919.

Street Railway (Electric Railway) Journal Index -- A compiled index of items of interest in Street Railway Journal, which became Electric Railway Journal in 1914, and Transit Journal in 1932

Steam Dummies -- Information about the small steam locomotives (motors) that had wooden bodies that looked like streetcars. Steam dummies were used in Ogden, Provo, and north of Salt Lake City to Lagoon.

West Side Rapid Transit Co. -- Information about West Side Rapid Transit Co., a single-track street car line along Salt Lake City's Seventh West to "Tenth South" (today's 1300 South), then west across the Jordan River to the Garden City, Brighton, and Eldorado subdivisions. The line extended for seven miles, to about 3800 West. In 1893, a portion was converted to electric street car. After 1895, steam dummy operations ended west of the Jordan River. The electric street car operated between downtown Salt Lake City and the Cannon farm at about 1000 West and 1300 South. Service ended 1909.
