General Notes:

a. Total of three D&RGW units to UP at merger, numbered D&RGW 3154-3156.
b. These three units were originally part of a GP60 order for SP, but were diverted to D&RGW to replace three wrecked D&RGW units; because SP had so many GP60s, upon delivery, all three units were usually used on SP lines rather than D&RGW lines.
c. Assigned UP 5700-5702 in September 1997, one unit (UP 5702) renumbered; assigned UP 1900-1902 in December 1999.

Note:

1. UP 5702 (ex D&RGW 3156) was the only unit in this group to be repainted to the UP 5700-5702 group, completed on 14 May 1998.

14. SSW 9684 was assigned UP 1996; renumbered to UP 2020 instead to allow its originally assigned UP 1996 number to be used by the new SD70ACE SP Heritage unit.
15. UP 2039, as SP 9740, was wrecked on 31 March 2000 at Schertz, Texas (13 miles northeast of San Antonio); renumbered to UP 5839 upon completion of wreck repairs on 11 August 2000.
16. UP 2043 and 2059 were wrecked on 26 August 2006 in San Timoteo Canyon near Redlands, California.
17. UP 2066 (ex UP 5866, SP 9767) was wrecked on 28 June 2004 at MacDona, Texas; retired on 18 October 2004.
18. UP 2076, as UP 5876 (ex SP 9777) was the first of this group to be repainted to Union Pacific, completed following wreck repairs on 21 February 1997; wrecked on 7 October 1996 at Graham (near Galesburg), Illinois (SP trackage rights on BN between Kansas City and Chicago); doublestack train ran red signal, side-swiping a BN train; unit loaded on a flat car and returned to UP at North Little Rock for repairs.
19. UP 2091 (ex SP 9791) was the first of this group to be renumbered to the UP 1903 series, completed on 31 January 2000.
20. UP 2094 was built as SSW 9685, which was assigned UP 1987 in December 1999, not renumbered (SSW 9681 was renumbered to UP 1987 on 19 September 2002); SSW 9685 was renumbered to UP 2094 on 27 May 2005.
21. UP 2095 was built as SSW 9680, renumbered to UP 5782 on 27 September 2000; renumbered to UP 1983 on 12 April 2001; renumbered to UP 2095 on 13 June 2005 to clear the UP 1983 number for use by UP 1983 number for use by the SD70ACE WP Heritage unit (see also Note 5, above).

General Notes:

a. UP 2001 and 2002 were painted in a special two-tone blue scheme to commemorate the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympic Games; the units did not enter service in their original 4600 series road number, but were moved direct from the factory in London, Ontario to the shops of Wisconsin & Southern Railroad at Horicon, Wisconsin for application of the special Olympic paint scheme; completed on November 7, 2001 and officially unveiled at Kansas City, Missouri on November 15, 2001.
b. The two units were used to pull the Olympic Torch Relay Train on its nationwide tour; the rail portion of the torch relay began on December 10th at Livonia, Louisiana, and ended on January 22, 2002 at Eugene, Oregon; the torch relay train itself arrived in Salt Lake City on January 25, 2002; the Olympic Torch Relay Train transported the Olympic flame more than 3,200 miles across 11 states as part of the 65-day long torch relay, which began on December 4, 2001 at Atlanta, Georgia, and ended at Salt Lake City on February 8, 2002, opening day for the Olympics.
c. UP 2001 and 2002 were used on February 5, 2002 during the donation of SP 7457, the first Southern Pacific SD45, to Ogden Union Station in Ogden, Utah.
d. The two units remained in Salt Lake City until February 27th, when they were used to return the Olympic Torch Train cars to Council Bluffs, Iowa; the units entered normal freight service on March 1st, with plans for them to be repainted to UP's standard yellow and gray paint scheme at some future date.
e. As of early February 2012, the two 2002 Winter Olympics units have remained in their commemorative paint scheme; both units were brought to Salt Lake City in February 2012 to take part in the 10-year anniversary celebration of the 2002 Winter Olympics.
