General Notes:

1. Built as UP 7000-7009; renumbered from 7000 series to 7500 series by GE during 1998-2000 at its factory in Erie, Pa., upon installation of upgraded engines.
2. UP 7501-7505, as UP 7001-7005, had original build dates of November and December 1995, as reflected on their original builder's decals; during the formal one-year test period, these units operated on UP and were returned to GE for modifications prior to delivery to UP in November 1996, with new builder's decals applied reflecting the new delivery date.
3. The UP designation for these locomotives is C60AC; GE designation is AC6000CW.

1. All 45 units converted from as-built 6000-horsepower, to 4400-horsepower C44/60AC, and renumbered to UP 6898 series number on the date shown.

UP 7511 (1st) suffered fire damage on 7 June 1999; cause of fire was determined to be warranty-related; unit retired on 16 June 1999 and shipped to GE at Erie, Pa., on 17 June 1999; damage repaired and unit repainted to GE's red and gray scheme and renumbered to GECX 6002 in April 2000; retained by GE at Erie; donated by GE in March 2022 to Lake Shore Railway Museum in North East, Pennsylvania.
3. UP 7511 (2nd), delivered to UP on 7 January 2001, was built as a warranty replacement for UP 7511 (1st), which was retired in June 1999 due to fire damage; unit is painted in new "Wings" image, including the new lightning stripe color separation line.

UP 7555 was the first UP new GE unit with the new "Wings" image, completed at the GE factory in Erie, Pa., in November 2000; painted in the new Wings image during mid December 2000, but did not enter service until January 2001; UP 9826 (ex C&NW 8722) was repainted to full UP colors on 13 December 2000, becoming the first GE locomotive to enter regular service with the new Wings image.

1. Total of 32 SP units went to UP at merger, numbered SP 7803-7883; incomplete sequence due to different ownership and lease arrangements; see UP 7774-7873, below.

4. UP 7751 was retired due to wreck damage; scrapped at UP Davidson (ex-Centennial) Yard in Fort Worth during late May 2007.
5. UP 7765 was retired and renumbered as WP 7765 on 9 April 2007 to clear the number for use by a new-in 2007 GE C45AC-CTE locomotive; the retired and out-of-service WP 7765 was officially retired four months later on 2 August 2007 to serve as the core unit for UPY 2698. (The WP road number is used by UP as a temporary number for retired locomotives that remained on-property, to clear the unit's UP number for use by other locomotives.)

1. Original total of SP/SSW 110 units, numbered SSW 7774-7799 and SP 7800-83; 102 units went to UP at merger; SP retired eight units (SP 7800, 7809, 7810, 7821, 7846, 7854, 7868, and 7881) prior to the merger.
2. These 70 units are renumbered to UP out of SP/SSW sequence, with 32 other units in the UP 7742-7773 group due to different ownership and lease arrangements.
3. Assigned UP 260-329 in September 1997; assigned UP 7774-7873 (matching former SP number series) in December 1999.

UP 262, ex SSW 7776 (assigned UP 7776), was the only unit in this group to be renumbered to the interim UP 260-329 number series, completed as UP 262 on 7 June 1997; retired prior to being renumbered to UP 7776; retired on 19 December 2001, reinstated for service; retired again on 28 February 2005; rebuilt to UPY 2310 in June 2006.
4. A total of 12 units were retired and used as core units for rebuild to UPY 2600-series RP20GE Gen-Set units; UPY numbers shown above.
5. UP 7788 was retired and renumbered as WP 7788 on 9 April 2007, to clear the number for use by a new-in 2007 GE C45AC-CTE locomotive; the retired and out-of-service WP 7788 was officially retired three months later on 5 July 2007 and used as the core unit for UPY 2667. (The WP road number is used by UP as a temporary number for retired locomotives that remained on-property, to clear the unit's UP number for use by other locomotives.)
6. SP 7802 (assigned UP 7802) was scrapped by Pro Metals in Houston, Texas, during or just before June 2004. (information from Mike Roberts, via email to RR Rosters on July 12, 2004)
7. UP 7849 (ex SP 7849) was sold to G&L Leasing at auction sometime in 2001 or 2002 and lettered and numbered as Dakota Short Line 849. Sold to Mike Roberts on 25 May 2006; now identified as MJRX 849. (information from Mike Roberts, November 24, 2007)
