a. MP 1153 was the only MP EMD switcher to be repainted to MP yellow, completed on 6 June 1984.
b. MP numbers 1167-1174 (eight numbers) were blank and not used.
c. MP SW1200s 1100-1199 (92 units) were retired in January, February and June 1985; all were sold to several different used locomotive dealers, including Precision National, Chrome Crankshaft; Wilson Railway, and Coast Engine & Equipment, and many were subsequently resold to smaller railroads and industrial companies nationwide.

b. MP 1216 (2nd), 1217 (2nd) built new as (MP-owned) St. Louis, Brownsville & Mexico (StLB&M) 9190, 9191, renumbered to StLB&M 1252, 1253, renumbered to MP 1252, 1253 (1st), renumbered to MP 1216 (2nd), 1217 (2nd) in November 1974 to keep 1951-built units blocked together.
