General Notes:

a. There were 151 GP18s purchased by Missouri Pacific and Texas & Pacific; in January 1981, two years before the UP merger, the remaining 120 units were removed and stored at Fort Worth and other locations; of the 120 units in storage, 17 were traded to EMD on new GP15-1s and new MP15s; the 103 remaining GP18s remained in storage following the December 1982 UP merger, and all 103 units were retired on 2 April 1984.
b. MP 1850-1854 built as T&P 1145-1149, renumbered to T&P 500-504 in 1961; T&P merged with MP in October 1976; MP 500-504 renumbered to MP 1850-1854 in 1974.
c. MP 1855-1881 built as MP 4800 series; renumbered to MP 500 series in 1961; renumbered to MP 1800 series in 1974.

4. MP 1973 was donated to AAR Test track at Avondale, Colorado.
5. MP 1984 was traded to EMD, 3 October 1984.

General Notes:

a. MP 2002-2007 were built as MP 572-577, renumbered to MP 852-857, renumbered to MP 2002-2007 in 1974.
b. MP 2007 was the second unit in 1974 to carry that number. MP 2007 (1st) was GP35 630, wrecked and rebuilt to GP35M, renumbered to MP 2007 (1st) in 1974, then almost immediately to MP 2008, later in 1974, then renumbered again to MP 2600.)
c. MP 2007 was the only unit in this series to be painted in UP's yellow and gray scheme, with MP lettering. Previously, it was one of very few MP non-turbocharged units to receive MP's Screaming Eagle hood-side emblem, which was usually reserved for turbocharged units.
d. Originally assigned UP numbers 2388-2393 in the December 1985 renumber plan, but that group was included as part of the group 2380-2399 in January 1986 renumber plan and assigned to MP GP38-2s 2054-2073. These six GP38s were not assigned a UP number in the final January 1986 renumber plan.
e. MP 2002-2006 had 263,100 pounds operating weight; MP 2007 had 260,000 pounds operating weight
f. MP 2002-2006 were built under EMD order number 7938.

General Notes:

a. Built as MP 913-922, renumbered to MP 2064-2073 in 1974.
b. None of the above units were repainted/renumbered to UP. All were off roster in January 1988.
c. All units were retired by UP on 26 January 1988 upon expiration of the 15 year lease on 30 December 1987, and returned to their owner/lessor; sold the units to a joint venture between Helm Financial and Grand Trunk Corp.; ownership split between Helm (six units) and GT (four units), with GT's four units eventually becoming GT 5700 class units (renumbered to GT 4900 class in January to March 1997). MP 2068, one of GT's four units, was leased to SP while awaiting its turn through GT's Battle Creek, Mich., rebuild program. The six units owned by Helm were part of Helm's national lease fleet until early February 1989, when Helm leased the three units to UP on a long term lease. As units in the three unit group leased to UP came due for shop work during 1989 to 1991, they were repainted from MP blue to UP yellow and gray, and renumbered to UP's 1800 series.
d. Not equipped with dynamic braking.
e. Assigned UP 2390-2399 in December 1985, none renumbered before entire group was retired in January 1988.

a. MP 2500-2513 built as T&P 600-613, renumbered to T&P 2500-2513 in 1974. T&P merged with MP in October 1976.
b. MP 2514-2536 built as MP 615-639; renumbered to MP 2514-2536 in 1974, closing the gaps left by the retirement of MP 615 and MP 630.
