b. The rebuilding of UPRy 1021 and 1022 from 4-6-0 to 4-4-0 was more likely a case of lifting the bell and reinstalling it on an entirely new Omaha-built 4-4-0, and calling it a rebuild, although I don't know why since they did not have the depreciation and tax considerations they had in the 1950s and 1960s when so many diesel locomotives were "rebuilt". They may have used the same boiler since the boilers were only 12-13 years old. Unfortunately we don't have folio diagram sheets from that era to compare before and after data. Photos of the 800-series 4-4-0s are very, very rare.
