(Note: UP 4819 was originally assigned to SP 6855, but the UP 4819 number was used by SP 6824 instead.)

(Note: SP 6824 was originally assigned UP 4944, and was retired by UP on 1/29/99, and sold to LLPX; it replaced SP 6855 in the 20-cylinder to 16-cylinder rebuild program because SP 6855 was found to be unusable in the rebuild program.)

During August and September 1999, UP began leasing three EMDX SD60s (EMDX 8300-8302), 15 GSCX SD40-2s (GSCX 7349-7358, 7374-7378), and three LLPX GP60s (LLPX 6001-6003). What are the histories of these units? I think the SD60s are the ex-BN units and the GP60s are the ex-EMD demonstrators. These 21 units are likely meant to make up (as a free lease?) for EMD's late delivery of the SD90AC units, UP 8522-8561.
