Renumbered UP units (31 units):

Note: I should add that I don't know which units have been renumbered as patch jobs and which ones are full repaints, although we can probably guess that the ones that are already full UP are simply restenciled. If anyone has access to a UP computer terminal, look for units with Mod 067 completed.

Notes:

  1. The former SP/SSW B40-8s are apparently being renumbered out of sequence in the 1800-1899 group; SP 8010 became UP 1815 instead of UP 1810 (UP GP38-2 1815 was renumbered to UP 315 in January 2000).
  2. For reasons unknown, the former SP B40-8s (8000-8039) were renumbered into both their originally assigned UP 5609-5648 series, and their new UP 1800-1839 series.
  3. The four already-renumbered former SP C44s (UP 6500 [ex-SP 221], 6527 [ex-SP 249], 6534 [ex-SP 256], and 6895 [ex-SP 279] have been grouped together at the end of the new 6148-6424 group, as UP 6421-6424. The other 273 units will be renumbered in sequence into the 6148-6420 group.
  4. Although the December 1999 renumber plan did not assign a new number series to the 27 former MP SD40-2s in the 4115-4163 group, UP 4131 has been renumbered to UP 9888. The conflict here is that the 9880-9939 group was assigned to the former MP SD50s, and UP 5001 was renumbered to 9881 during January 2000. Apparently, the 110 former MP, C&NW and D&RGW SD50s will all be retired before being renumbered, as evidenced by the retirement for UP 5059 -- and the 73 former MP SD40-2s will be renumbered into the UP 9883-9951 group. Confusing, isn't it.
