U.S. Steel numbers 1101, 1103, 1106, 1109, 1110, 1110, and 1189 were part of a large purchase of former MP SW9 and SW1200 units by United States Steel from used locomotive dealer Wilson Railway Supply. In 1985, Precision National (dealer) bought a total of 152 former MP SW1200s and SW9s in April and June 1985. Most had been out of service on MP prior to the UP-MP merger, but the final sale by UP to Precision did not take place until two years after UP's control of MP in January 1983. An unknown number were resold by Precision in August 1986 to Wilson Railway Supply (dealer). In late 1986, U. S. Steel bought a total of 11 units for assignment to its Fairless, Lorain, and Geneva works; four units (ex MP 1102, 1114, 1125, and 1160) were delivered to Geneva. Of the other seven units sold U. S. Steel by Wilson (ex MP 1101, 1103, 1106, 1109, 1110, 1111, and 1189), some were painted and lettered for Geneva Works but none of these seven were delivered. Each was delivered to other U. S. Steel locations, or sold by Wilson to other steel companies, as shown below. USS 1101 was purchased by USS and assigned to and painted for Geneva Works; not delivered, assigned to Fairless Works 1123; returned to Wilson in April 1991. USS 1103 was purchased by USS and assigned to Geneva Works; not delivered; sold to Granite City Steel 1188. USS 1106 was purchased by USS and assigned to Geneva Works; not delivered, not painted or lettered; assigned to Lorain Works 1106. USS 1109 was purchased by USS and assigned to Geneva Works; not delivered, not painted or lettered; assigned to Lorain Works 1109. USS 1110 was purchased by USS and assigned to Geneva Works; not delivered, not painted or lettered; assigned to Lorain Works 1110. USS 1111 was purchased by USS and assigned to Geneva Works; not delivered, not painted or lettered; assigned to Lorain Works 1111. USS 1189 was purchased by USS and assigned to and painted for Geneva Works; not delivered; assigned to Fairless Works 1130 by June 1987; returned to Wilson in April 1991; to Independent Locomotive Services (dealer); to Brownsville & Rio Grande International Railroad 1130 by February 1995. |

Total of nine units sold to Larrys Truck Electric (LTEX): numbers 23, 24, 43, 44, 613, 640, 1102, 1114, 1125, 1160, along with 50 ton GE 395 (which was to be trucked rather than shipped on its own wheels). Another source says that a total of 13 units were sold to LTEX.
