Note: D&RGW purchased its first all-steel dining cars from the American Car & Foundry Company in May 1927. The four new cars were named Castle Peak, Pikes Peak, Sopris Peak, and Twin Peak. Until then, the dining car fleet consisted of all wood bodied cars, also named after Colorado mountains. Castle Peak is preserved in Joshua Tree. California. Pikes Peak is preserved at the Forney museum in Denver. Sopris Peak was destroyed in a fire in 1952. Twin Peak was dismantled at Pueblo in 1963. and its frame and trucks were used to build a boom car.
