As of June 17, 2022, updates to UtahRails.net are no longer posted to the UtahRails Facebook page. The work to produce duplicate entries to both Facebook and UtahRails/What's New was taking away time that can be better used on other projects. Also, the increasing level of negative political and religious comments on Facebook in general, as well as the obvious attempts at clickbait to drive likes and comments makes Facebook not a useful service. The third factor is that the Facebook search engine is one of the worst and one of the most unusable search engine on the internet. It is almost impossible to find information previously posted to Facebook, making Facebook a terrible way to archive photos and information.

UtahRails first came to Facebook on March 8, 2015, when links to all "What's New" updates for UtahRails.net were posted to both Facebook and UtahRails/What's New. It was a useful service at first but it is no longer, especially for the past two years.

All updates will continue to be posted to the UtahRails "What's New" web page.

On October 22, 2021 work began removing my postings on Facebook, starting with the oldest posts first, dating from October 2014, although very few dated before February 2017 have been saved. The project was completed on July 2, 2022.

Posting to Facebook was a learning curve and it took numerous and several attempts to learn how best to share text and images so that each message was organized and the entire message made historical sense. Those from the initial period 2014 to 2017 that made no sense were deleted, although many had already been archived.

The text of each Facebook posting and its associated thread was copied to a Word file, along with its associated images. The images in the Word document were resized by Word to fit the page, but the actual images in the Facebook message thread were retained in their original size, and given matching names, and kept with the final Word document and PDF.

The ending count for messages from the Bingham Canyon History group (2016 to 2022) was 118 messages. The other messages from Rails Through The Wasatch, and Utah Rail Enthusiasts, as well as a few other Facebook groups (2013 to 2022), was 211 messages, making a total of 329 messages archived.
