UP 1536 (1st) was wrecked on Southern Pacific on July 29, 1928 at Cortena, California; retired by UP and sold to SP, September 1928; repaired by Sacramento General Shops; entered srvice as SP Observation Smoking 2902 on August 10, 1929; retired by SP in November 1956; sold to Pacific Coast Chapter, Railway & Locomotive Historical Society in June 1957 (the chapter marked it "Union Pacific" and numbered it "1536" and added the name "El Dorado"); transferred to California State Railroad Museum in June 1978; used occasionally and lettered for Sacramento Southern.
