  9. OWRR&N 1575 and 1576 were built by Pullman as "Observation-Smoker" cars under Pullman Lot 3734 and Pullman Plan 2115-B, using Common Standard specification 219. Their original numbers were OR&N 400 and 401. They were renumbered to ORR&N 550 and 551 in June and August 1911, respectively. In the general systemwide renumbering that brought all of the cars of UP's OSL and O-WR&N subsidiaries under a single numbering scheme, ORR&N 550 and 551 were renumbered to O-WR&N 1575 and 1576 on June 21 and July 22, 1915.
  10. Their conversion to open top observation cars was completed by OWR&N at their Albina shops in May and April 1926. This conversion included new steel underframes and boosted their seating capacity from their original 40 seats to a new 92 seats. By examining the photo in The Streamliner (Vol. 20, No. 3, Summer 2006, page 38), it appears the conversion included steel sheathing for the new low sides.
  11. No operational records or specific assignments are readily available, but company records reveal that both cars were retired in December 1939 and reassigned as "Roadway" tool cars for maintenance of way service. Their new numbers became 0359 and 0360. A guess as to their assigned service would be that they were used as crane tenders. There is a handwritten note that OWRR&N 0360 was "used with the LA wrecker." OWR&N 0359 was retired in November 1954 and 0360 followed soon after in September 1956.
