General Notes:

  1. MP 1153 was the only MP EMD switcher to be repainted to MP yellow, completed on 6 June 1984.
  2. MP numbers 1167-1174 (eight numbers) were blank and not used.
  3. MP SW1200s 1100-1199 (92 units) were retired in January, February and June 1985; all were sold to several different used locomotive dealers, including Precision National, Chrome Crankshaft; Wilson Railway, and Coast Engine & Equipment, and many were subsequently resold to smaller railroads and industrial companies nationwide.
  4. MP 1100-1125 had 246,100 pounds operating weight; MP 1126-1133 had 247,400 pounds operating weight; MP 1134-1151 had 248,800 pounds operating weight; MP 1152-1189 had 247,500 pounds operating weight; MP 1190-1199 had 250,100 pounds operating weight

General Notes:

  1. Beginning in late October 1981 all of MP SW9s were placed into storage, at Houston, Fort Worth, and Kansas City.
  2. MP 1216 (2nd), 1217 (2nd) built new as (MP-owned) St. Louis, Brownsville & Mexico (StLB&M) 9190, 9191, renumbered to StLB&M 1252, 1253, renumbered to MP 1252, 1253 (1st), renumbered to MP 1216 (2nd), 1217 (2nd) in November 1974 to keep 1951-built units blocked together.
  3. MP 1216, 1236-1251 equipped for multiple unit operation.
  4. MP 1222, 1223 built as T&P 1024-1036, renumbered to T&P 1219-1231 in 1961. T&P merged with MP in October 1976.
