General Notes:
- All three locomotives were built as Walla Walla & Columbia River Railroad, a three-feet narrow gauge railroad constructed between Wallula and Walla Walla, Washington in 1872-1875, along with a branch to Blue Mountain, Washington built in 1879; converted to standard gauge in May 1881, with the Blue Mountain Branch remaining narrow gauge until 1883, at which time all three were sold to the Mill Creek Flume & Manufacturing Company, which was later sold to ORy&N in 1887. - ORy&N number 1 was built in 1876 as Walla Walla & Columbia River Railroad number 3, named "Columbia"; to Mill Creek Flume & Manufacturing Company number 3 in June 1881, Mill Creek company was sold to ORy&N in 1887; renumbered to Oregon Railway & Navigation Company number 1 in 1889; renumbered to ORy&N number 284 in 1890; renumbered to ORy&N number 1 in 1894; sold in 1896 to Cascades Railroad number 1 "Columbia", Cascades, Washington; replaced by mules in 1906 and likely scrapped

R. Engstrom, Nome, Alaska; boiler and running gear returned to Walla Walla, Washington in 1992, given a minor cosmetic restoration and put on display at Baker Boyer Bank in Walla Walla.

General Notes:
- Built as Oregon Steam Navigation Company's 5th and 6th locomotives; sold to ORy&N in March 1880..
- Built as 60-inch gauge, converted to standard gauge in February 1880.
- Locomotive "R. R. Thompson" was named for Robert R. Thompson, one of the organizers and a majority stockholder of OSN; in addition to the locomotive, OSN also had a steamboat named for him.
- Locomotive "J. W. Sprague" was named for John W. Sprague, who was Superintendent of Northern Pacific Railroad's Pacific Coast Division when completed to Tacoma in 1873, and in 1879 became NP's General Superintendent and later President of Northern Pacific; during the brief period that NP owned the OSN, between 1872 and 1877, Sprague also served as OSN's superintendent.
