  • Cylinders: 18x24 inches (rebuilt from 15x22 inches in September 1886)

Description:

  • Drive Wheel Diameter: 69 inches (rebuilt from 61 inches in October 1887)
  • Cylinders: 18x26 inches (rebuilt from 16x24 inches in October 1887)

General Notes:

  1. UPRy 827 possibly rebuilt from a locomotive other than UPRy 402; research by George Pitchard shows that UPRy 402 became Idaho Central 1 in 1887, then OSL&UN 402 in 1889, then to OSL 100 in 1897, citing a U. P. Boston General Office general journal entry in August of 1887, which notes that U.P. engine No. 402 (and some other rolling stock) was sold in that month to the new Idaho Central Railway. (UPRy 401, also vacated in 1887, had identical specifications as UPRy 402)

Notes:

  1. UPRy 827 was built as KP 61 in 1870; to UPRy 402 in 1885; rebuilt to UPRy 827 in 1887; to UP 827 in 1898; to UP 941 in 1915; vacated in 1926

UPRy 829 (1st) Rhode Island 2451 Oct 1890 1890 1

Description:

  • Drive Wheel Diameter: 62 inches
  • Cylinders: 18x26 inches

General Notes:

  1. UPRy 829 (1st) was part of a group of 11 new Rhode Island 4-4-0s built in October 1890 that were numbered as UPRy 600-602 and ORy&N 603-609, with this one being extra, delivered as UPRy 829, numbered after the most recent rebuilt locomotive in the 800 series (the 11th number position would have been ORy&N (UP System) 610, but that number was already held by UPL&C 610 built by Schenectady in 1889)

Notes:

  1. Built as UPRy 829 (1st) in 1890; diverted upon, or soon after delivery to ORy&N 710 in 1890; to ORy&N 87 in 1894; to Idaho Northern 1 in 1909; to OWRR&N 87 in 1911; to OWRR&N 1121 in 1915; retired in 1925 (Read more about Idaho Northern RR)
