(For now, this is simply a place to put information about other railroads as I compile my notes.)
Grand Canyon, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway
November 18, 1910
A railroad by the name of Grand Canyon, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway had 25 surveryors in the field. Its projected route was from either Nephi or Payson, south along the east side of Sevier valley to Fillmore in Millard County, and on to Beaver City, Kanosh, Cedar City and St. George, running through a pass in the Pine Valley mountains, to the Utah-Arizona line. A branch was to be built into the Kanab forest reserve along the border line between Utah and Arizona, where government reports stated that there were 4 billion board-feet of lumber ready for cutting. The project had the backing of "prominent Utah and eastern capitalists, including M. H. Walker, of Salt Lake, Senator Reed Smoot, and others. (Carbon County News, November 18, 1910, quoting the Herald Republican)
