Summit County Railroad

Summit County Railroad mortgages itself to Union Trust Company of New York. (Summit County Abstracts, Book A, p.288; Summit County Old Records, Miscellaneous, Book C, p.45-56)

23 July 1880
Margaret V. Lawson sells property in SE-1/4 of Section 32 to Summit County Railroad. (Quit Claim Deeds, Book F, p.325)

11 October 1880
Map filed and approved of route of Summit County Railroad, filed with Land Office, Department of the Interior, under Act of Congress approved on 3 March 1875 "Railroads through Public Lands". (Summit County Quit Claim Record, Book F, p.323)

Utah Eastern Railroad

June 1880
Utah Eastern began buying land.

1 May 1883
Utah Eastern Railroad trust deeds to James E. Dooly, for $230,000.00, the 27 miles that comprises the "Eastern Division" of the Utah Eastern, from the coal mines above Coalville to Park City.

UP Park City Branch

19 April 1928
UPRR sold to United States property under present day Echo Reservoir. (Summit County Quit Claim Deeds, Book F, p.20)

22 May 1931
UPRR sold to United States the actual right of way of the abandoned portion of the Park City Branch that is under water because of the Echo Reservoir. (Summit County Quit Claim Deeds, Book F, p.323)

11 May 1989
UPRR sold the entire Park City Branch to State of Utah, Division of Parks and Recreation. (Summit County Book 527, p.47-56)

Grass Creek Branch

27 April 1875
William W. Cluff sells to Brigham Young the 160 acres in the NW-1/4 of Section 18, T3N, R5E. Purchase price was $3,000.00. (Summit County Old Records, Book E, p.105)

27 October 1876
Brigham Young sells to Union Pacific Railroad the above described property. (Summit County Old Records, Book F, p.138)

28 September 1878
United States patented to William W. Cluff the above described property. (Summit County Miscellaneous Records, Book I, p.432)

21 May 1891
Union Pacific Railroad sells to Union Pacific Coal Company the above described property. (Summit County Miscellaneous Records, Book H, p.528)

1 May 1906
Grass Creek Terminal Railway still existed in 1906. The railroad agreed to make good damages caused to property of Thomas A. Welch, in the amount of $150.00. The construction of the railroad changed the channel of Grass Creek, and flow from the new channel caused some damage by washout. (Summit County Miscellaneous Record, Book M, p.561)

16 June 1922
Heber J. Grant, as Trustee in Trust for LDS Church, sells by quit claim deed to Zion Securities, in the amount of $1.00, the coal lands in Grass Creek canyon, described as follows: S-1/2 Section 18; N-1/2 of NE-1/4 Section 19; SW-1/4 of NE-1/4, NE-1/4 of NW-1/4 Section 24; W-1/2 Section 26; S-1/2 of SW-1/4 Section 8; including Grass Creek Terminal Railway, which begins at center of east line of Section 8, T3N, R6E. 22 August 1923
Zion Securities warranty deeds to Union Pacific Railroad the right of way and track of the Grass Creek Branch, plus 8.78 acres in SW-1/4 Section 18 and NW-1/4, Section 19, including coal tipple. Purchase price was $10.00. Heber J. Grant is president of Zion Securities. (Summit County Warranty Deeds, Book N, p.81)

28 August 1933
Corporation of the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints quit claim deeded to Zion Securities the property in Sections 18, 19, 24, 26, 8. (Summit County Quit Claim Deeds, Book F, p.383)
