Notes:

  1. UP 1471, as UP 5371 (ex SP 7101) was the only unit is this group to be repainted and renumbered to the UP 5370-5434 group, completed on 8 September 1997.
  2. UP 1477, as SP 7107, was the first SP unit to wear the original, small version of the SP speed lettering paint scheme, completed on 17 March 1991; UP 5382, as SP 7112, was the first SP unit to carry the later, large version of the SP speed lettering scheme, completed on 15 April 1991 (new SP GP60s 9715-9769 were delivered in April through July 1991, the first new units to be delivered with large speed lettering).
  3. UP 1502 was renumbered from SP 7124 while under loan to AAR at their test track near Pueblo, Colorado.
  4. SSW 7283 (assigned UP 1518) was renumbered instead to UP 1338. Yet another example of the silliness of the renumbering plan.
  5. UP 1529 is ex SP 7294 (2nd). SP 7294 (1st) was ex CSX 6707; completed by Morrison Knudsen on 25 February 1991. SP 7294 (1st) was wrecked in June 1991 at Proctor, Arkansas, and returned to MK; components were used on the frame of CSX 6811 to build SP 7294 (2nd), completed on 7 February 1992; for photographic comparison, SP 7294 (1st) had standard SP railroad roman lettering and SP 7294 (2nd) had large SP speed lettering.
