General Notes:

1. Total of three D&RGW units to UP at merger, numbered D&RGW 3154-3156.
2. These three units were originally part of a GP60 order for SP, but were diverted to D&RGW to replace three wrecked D&RGW units; because SP had so many GP60s, upon delivery, all three units were usually used on SP lines rather than D&RGW lines.
3. Assigned UP 5700-5702 in September 1997, one unit (UP 5702) renumbered; assigned UP 1900-1902 in December 1999.

1. UP 5702 (ex D&RGW 3156) was the only unit in this group to be repainted to the UP 5700-5702 group, completed on 14 May 1998.

2. UP 2015-2068, as SP 9715-9769, were the first SP/SSW units to carry the large SP speed lettering scheme, with their delivery in April through July 1991.

1. UP number 1912 was renumbered from SSW 9682 on 25 March 2008; UP 1912 was originally assigned to SP 9609, but SP 9609 was wrecked on 4 July 1999 at Palm Springs, California, and retired on 27 August 1999.
2. SSW 9635 (assigned UP 5737, then UP 1937) was retired on 19 December 2000.
3. UP 1960 was wrecked on 21 February 2004 at Carrizozo, N.M.; retired on 25 May 2004 (NTDB press release dated February 27, 2004) (KVIA [El Paso] news story)
4. UP 1977 and 2095 were wrecked on 8 March 2006 at Chickasha, Oklahoma; both units scrapped at wreck site.
5. UP 1982 number is used by SD70ACE MP Heritage unit, and not used by an ex SP/SSW GP60; originally assigned to SSW 9682 in December 1999, but SSW 99682 was renumbered to UP 1912 in March 2008.
6. UP 1983 was built as SSW 9680, renumbered to UP 5782 on 27 September 2000; renumbered to UP 1983 on 12 April 2001; renumbered to UP 2095 on 13 June 2005 to clear the UP 1983 number for use by UP 1983 number for use by the SD70ACE WP Heritage unit (See also: Note 17, below).
7. UP 1987 was built as SSW 9681; assigned UP 5783 in December 1999, not renumbered; SSW 9681 renumbered to UP 1987 on 19 September 2002; renumbered to (???) on (???) to clear the UP 1987 for use by the new D&RGW SD70ACE Heritage unit.
8. UP 1988 was built as SSW 9686; renumbered to UP 1988 on 24 June 2002; renumbered to UP 2096 on on 14 June 2005 to clear the UP 1988 number for use by the new SD70ACE MKT Heritage unit with the same number (See also: Note 18, below).
9. UP 1989 was built as SSW 9688; renumbered to UP 1989 on 25 October 2003; renumbered to UP 2097 on on 13 May 2006 to clear the UP 1989 number for use by the new SD70ACE D&RGW Heritage unit with the same number (See also: Note 20, below).
10. UP 1995 was built as SSW 9691; renumbered to UP 1995 on 5 May 2001; renumbered to UP 2098 on 10 June 2006 to clear the UP 1995 number for use by the SD70ACE C&NW Heritage unit (See also: Note 19, below).
11. SSW 9694 was assigned UP 1996 in December 1999; assigned UP 2099 in June 2005 to allow the UP 1996 number to be used by SD70ACE SP Heritage unit with the same number; SSW 9694 was renumbered to UP 2099 in (????).
12. UP 2001 and 2002 are blank as GP60s, and are used as SD70M Olympic units.
13. UP 2002 was renumbered to UP 2009 on 26 August 2001 to clear the UP 2002 number for use by the Olympic SD70M; to be renumbered back to UP 2002 upon renumbering of the SD70M to its original UP 4691 number.
14. SSW 9684 was assigned UP 1996; renumbered to UP 2020 instead to allow its originally assigned UP 1996 number to be used by the new SD70ACE SP Heritage unit.
15. UP 2039, as SP 9740, was wrecked on 31 March 2000 at Schertz, Texas (13 miles northeast of San Antonio); renumbered to UP 5839 upon completion of wreck repairs on 11 August 2000.
16. UP 2043 and 2059 were wrecked on 26 August 2006 in San Timoteo Canyon near Redlands, California.
17. UP 2066 (ex UP 5866, SP 9767) was wrecked on 28 June 2004 at MacDona, Texas; retired on 18 October 2004.
18. UP 2076, as UP 5876 (ex SP 9777) was the first of this group to be repainted to Union Pacific, completed following wreck repairs on 21 February 1997; wrecked on 7 October 1996 at Graham (near Galesburg), Illinois (SP trackage rights on BN between Kansas City and Chicago); doublestack train ran red signal, side-swiping a BN train; unit loaded on a flat car and returned to UP at North Little Rock for repairs.
19. UP 2091 (ex SP 9791) was the first of this group to be renumbered to the UP 1903 series, completed on 31 January 2000.
20. UP 2094 was built as SSW 9685, which was assigned UP 1987 in December 1999, not renumbered (SSW 9681 was renumbered to UP 1987 on 19 September 2002); SSW 9685 was renumbered to UP 2094 on 27 May 2005.
21. UP 2095 was built as SSW 9680, renumbered to UP 5782 on 27 September 2000; renumbered to UP 1983 on 12 April 2001; renumbered to UP 2095 on 13 June 2005 to clear the UP 1983 number for use by UP 1983 number for use by the SD70ACE WP Heritage unit (See also: Note 5, above).
22. UP 2096 was built as SSW 9686; renumbered to UP 1988 on 24 June 2002; renumbered to UP 2096 on on 14 June 2005 to clear the UP 1988 number for use by the new SD70ACE MKT Heritage unit with the same number (see Note 7, above).
23. UP 2097 was built as SSW 9688; renumbered to UP 1989 on 25 October 2003; renumbered to UP 2097 on on 13 May 2006 to clear the UP 1989 number for use by the new SD70ACE D&RGW Heritage unit with the same number (See also: Note 8, above).
24. UP 2098 was built as SSW 9691; renumbered to UP 1995 on 5 May 2001; renumbered to UP 2098 on 10 June 2006 to clear the UP 1995 number for use by the SD70ACE C&NW Heritage unit (See also: Note 8, above).

General Notes:

1. UP 2001 and 2002 were painted in a special two-tone blue scheme to commemorate the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympic Games; the units did not enter service in their original 4600 series road number, but were moved direct from the factory in London, Ontario to the shops of Wisconsin & Southern Railroad at Horicon, Wisconsin for application of the special Olympic paint scheme; completed on November 7, 2001 and officially unveiled at Kansas City, Missouri on November 15, 2001.
2. The two units were used to pull the Olympic Torch Relay Train on its nationwide tour; the rail portion of the torch relay began on December 10th at Livonia, Louisiana, and ended on January 22, 2002 at Eugene, Oregon; the torch relay train itself arrived in Salt Lake City on January 25, 2002; the Olympic Torch Relay Train transported the Olympic flame more than 3,200 miles across 11 states as part of the 65-day long torch relay, which began on December 4, 2001 at Atlanta, Georgia, and ended at Salt Lake City on February 8, 2002, opening day for the Olympics.
3. UP 2001 and 2002 were used on February 5, 2002 during the donation of SP 7457, the first Southern Pacific SD45, to Ogden Union Station in Ogden, Utah.
4. The two units remained in Salt Lake City until February 27th, when they were used to return the Olympic Torch Train cars to Council Bluffs, Iowa; the units entered normal freight service on March 1st, with plans for them to be repainted to UP's standard yellow and gray paint scheme at some future date.
5. As of early February 2012, the two 2002 Winter Olympics units have remained in their commemorative paint scheme; both units were brought to Salt Lake City in February 2012 to take part in the 10-year anniversary celebration of the 2002 Winter Olympics. (Deseret News, February 10, 2012)

1. UP 6000 was originally assigned UP 2155, then UP 2158; both UP 2155 and 2158 were still being used by ex MP GP38-2s when the time came for UP 6000 to be renumbered; UP 6000 was then renumbered to UP 2100 on 7 November 2003 to avoid any conflict.
2. Fitted with standard EMD 88-inch low nose and standard EMD cab.

General Notes:

1. Total of 55 C&NW units went to UP at merger, numbered C&NW 8001-8055.
2. Renumbered from C&NW to UP out of C&NW sequence due to differing equipment configuration.
3. Equipped with Automatic Train Control (ATC) for operation along former C&NW lines.
4. Equipped while C&NW units with cab signals and Automatic Cab Signal equipment for operation along Union Pacific's lines in Nebraska, Wyoming, and along the Columbia River.
5. Assigned UP 5945-5999 in July 1995, 51 units renumbered prior to retirement in January 2002; assigned UP 2100-2154 in December 1999, above five units renumbered prior to retirement in January 2002.

Notes:

1. All 55 units (including the above five units, along with the 50 units that had been renumbered to the previous UP 5945-5999 group) were retired on 1 January 2002 upon expiration of their long-term lease from General Electric Credit Corporation; returned to GECC; ownership later split between Helm Financial (HLCX) and Citigroup Railmark, Inc. (CRIX), with ex CNW 8001-8032 going to Citigroup and ex C&NW 8035-8055 going to Helm; prior to the sale to Citicorp and Helm, GE sold four units (former C&NW 8033, 8034, 8045, and 8050) in January 2004 to Southern California Rail Authority (SCAX), also known as Metrolink, with ex UP 5999 (ex C&NW 8050) becoming SCAX 804.
2. UP 2106 (ex UP 5951, ex C&NW 8009) was the first unit in this group to be renumbered to the UP 2100-2154 group, completed on 15 July 2000.
3. UP 2110, as UP 5955 (ex C&NW 8019), was the first unit in this group to be repainted to Union Pacific, completed on 3 July 1995.
4. UP 2125 and 2150, along with UP 5962, 5964, 5965, 5966, 5969, 5998, 5999, a total of nine units, were extended for an additional year and were returned to GECC on 1 January 2003.
5. UP 2125 was renumbered from C&NW 8051 while the unit was undergoing repairs at Boise Locomotive in Boise, Idaho, during February 2001.

General Notes:

1. UP 2155 series units were renumbered from UP 6000 series numbers, but not in sequential order due to GP38-2 units still in service with 2155 series numbers.
2. UP 6014 was wrecked on 8 November 1987 at Nugget, Wyoming; sold for scrap to Southwest Railroad Car Parts on 13 June 1989, prior to the renumbering of all SD60 and SD60M units.

1. UP 2158 (ex UP 6324) is an SD60M
2. UP 2169 (ex UP 6186) is an SD60M
3. UP 2193 was wrecked on 21 February 2004 at Carrizozo, N.M.; retired on 29 February 2004
